Pepe’s/Off Season
Posted On:Things are pretty quiet at the Parrot. That said, this post has nothing to do with the bar but is rather an aside to what is happening in town at the moment which happens to be absolutely nothing. Here we grab a table at Pepe’s just after sunset and look over the wine list, which, with typical Pepe’s self-deprecating humor, sports on its cover portraits of a few Caroline Street regulars.
The scene at Pepe’s this night consisted of four folks gathered at the bar watching the baseball game(upon leaving we realized we knew three of the four) and, save ours, only one occupied table, inside or out.
I could fancy a chandelier like this in our house I thought. “In the right place”, someone at our table suggested.
Beyond the patio, the street is nearly deserted too.
the bouganvilla spreading all the way across the patio
My reason to be here: Absolut w/ fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and a half dozen raw Apalachicola oysters and a medley of broiled ones.
