PARROT TALK

More Albert

Albert has changed guitars today going to a Gibson Flying V that warrants a new photo plus some other stage shots from the Saturday Matinee.
Albert continues to heat up the Parrot stage delivering one strong set after another.
Opening this afternoon w/ Walkin’ Blues, adding some Albert and Freddie King, some Buddy Guy and some seemingly unlikely but extremely compelling and well received covers (The Band’s Up on Cripple Creek and The Weight; Van Morrison’s Tupelo Honey), added “The Thrill is Gone” and then tossed off a Stevie Ray encore to a super-enthusiastic mostly local crowd.
I think Albert’s brilliant, heady blues chops sometimes may make people overlook both his versatility and his command of not only the blues canon but also that of rock, nailing songs today, among others, that we thought we only wanted to hear Levon Helm or Rick Danko sing.
