Southernmost Brass is a seven piece horn band formed by guitarist/vocalist Mike Emerson that performs a wide variety of music styles, all featuring the sound of a powerful horn section. From the big band jazz sounds of swing (ie, Ellington, Basie, Sinatra, Buble), the foot tapping jump jive (ie, Big Bad Voodoo Daddies, Brian Setzer), classic R&B/funk/Motown/rock (ie, Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tower Of Power, Ray Charles, Wilson Picket, Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, Commitments, Temptations, Stevie Wonder), bossa nova/salsa/mambo latin sounds (ie, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chuck Mangione, Perez Prado, Lou Bega), to the blues (ie, Blues Brothers, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn), they all utilize the horn arrangements that are a key part of the sound of those musical styles. Southernmost Brass proudly features the collaboration of some of the top quality musicians from throughout the keys and has such an extensive variety of material that they can perform instrumentally or vocally in specific styles, or can mix all of the styles for a musical blend that will cater to lovers of all the classic horn band sounds for both listening and dancing.
