In one of my favorite Hemingway passages, Thomas Hudson, the protagonist and Hemingway facsimile in his novel, Islands in the Stream, rhapsodizes about a Daiquiri’s appearance: “It reminded him of the sea. The frappéed part of the drink was like the wake of a ship and the clear part was the way the water looked when the bow cut it when you were in shallow water over marl bottom. That was almost the exact color.” Join us to celebrate National Daiquiri Day, Sunday, July 19th, at The Green Parrot Package Store Patio, where, hosted by Pilar Rum and Premier Beverage we will hand-shaking the iconic cocktails from 6 to 7:30 while Bill Blue thumps out some classic R & B in the bar.
There’s a reason the Daiquiri is a classic. It’s s simple a cocktail as they come.
Fresh lime juice and a bit of simple syrup brighten and soften a good pour of white rum.
