Long a fixture on the highly-competitive New Orleans music scene and among the legions of Katrina-displaced Crescent City musicians, Elliot Kohn brings his Cosmic Sweat Society and their special brand of “Funk and Roll” to the Green Parrot for two nights, Friday and Saturday, January 20th and 21st with a special 5 PM “sound check” on Saturday afternoon.
Lately relocated to his hometown of Tampa, Elliot Cohn ‘s unique sound is made up of a blend of musical styles including blues, jazz, funk, 60’s psychedelic, reggae and good old rock ‘n roll. .
Performing and recording since the age of 12 he has been fortunate enough to meet and perform with blues legends John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy and Big Daddy Kinsey. While establishing himself in the New Orleans music scene Elliot has appeared at the prestigious New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with The Batiste Family Band and has opened in New Orleans for The Neville Brothers, The Funky Meters, Papa Grows Funk, to name a few.
Elliot’s strong vocals and powerful solos produce a powerhouse funk sound guaranteed to keep Parrot patrons on their feet all night.
