Blue Vipers of Brooklyn Bring 1920’s Hot Jazz, Swing to Green Parrot
The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn bring their timeless, percolating soup of 1920’s hot-jazz, swing, New Orleans jazz, vintage blues, and country to the Green Parrot stage on Wednesday and Thursday, August 24th and 25th, with shows at 5:30 and 9:00 p.m.
The band, composed of acoustic guitar/vocals, upright bass, homemade washboard percussion, trumpet and saxophone performs a repertoire of witty songs from 1920’s and 30’s, augmented by original tunes with moving yet often bawdy lyrics and catchy 4 part vocal harmony.“There are old souls in the young bodies of the Blue Vipers of Brooklyn. They play the best kind of roots music, one that explores the various sounds that turned on the youth in pre-and-post WWII America. Unifying it all is the band’s dazzling jazz chops.” ROBERT SUTTON, JAZZCORNER Feb. 2011
