The Black Lillies Bring Americana to The Parrot

Knoxville-based alternative country/Americana band The Black Lillies last night at The Green Parrot, 
Founded by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Cruz Contreras in 2008, The Black Lillies has risen to the forefront of the Americana scene with their own unique brand of country, roots, rock and blues via Appalachia. It includes bassist Taylor Coker, pedal steel whiz Tom Pryor (the everybodyfields), and drummer Jamie Cook (the everybodyfields). Trisha Gene Brady rounds out the lineup with Southern charm and smoky vocals.
Legendary songwriter and musician Jim Lauderdale called The Black Lillies “a true Americana supergroup”.

The Black Lillies tour extensively, with highlights including appearances at the Bonnaroo Music + Arts Festival, Bristol’s Rhythm & Roots Reunion, the live radio broadcasts of WDVX’s Tennessee Shines: Live from the Bijou Theatre, WSM’s Music City Roots: Live from theLoveless Café Barn, and a six-week national tour that kicked off in front of a packed house at the legendary Ryman Auditorium, the“Mother Church of Country Music.”

The group’s debut album, “Whisky Angel” received rave reviews and appeared on multiple “Best of 2009” lists across the country. Theband’s third album, “100 Miles of Wreckage”, released in February, continues to fly up the Americana charts.
