Religious Shrines: Home Edition

Speaking of shrines and altars, here is a homemade shrine made of distressed wood with what seems to be a decoupage depicting the Blessed Mother answering the prayers (we hope) of three Cuban fisherman struggling to keep their half-swamped vessel afloat. Two fisherman paddle ineffectually while the third gazes skyward beseeching The Madonna for her intercession as cherubs hover overhead. Below the picture is a rough wooden shelf to hold devotional candles. The candles would be lighted we imagine when praying for someones’s safety at sea or perhaps even to ward off severe weather for those on land.
