While rummaging around the Parrot Attic
(this time for candles and other hurricane supplies) I came across this artifact
from another era: "The Richard Nixon Countdown Calendar" Being the 35th
anniversary of his resignation it seemed like a good time to post this one.
Whoever owned this had religiously crossed off each allotted day of
Nixon's snakebitten administration.

Just in case you get lost, there's a sign on the building to tell you "You've Arrived!"
Here's a decal from a now defunct roller rink that sat a few doors down from
the bar, on Southard Street. It was popular in the navy's heyday of the forties
and fifties.
Another decal, much more recent, commemorating the commissioning of a nuclear
sub named for the Island City. |
